I'm very disappointed that the Swimming pool was closed this year. I have two kids of my own and the eldest loves the water and i had to explain to her why it was closed, even she was disappointed. I've been going there since i was a toddler and i think it's a stupid idea to close the pool as there not much to do in Wycombe when it's hot.
This summer we had to go over to Cassiobury Park in Watford or over to Wallingford to be near water on the hot days. Both of these places have pools so the kids can paddle in and keep cool. Cassiobury Park is the better one and is much bigger. There is a small cafe and on the hot days there was a few life guards around.... oh it was FREE!!! Wallingford is much smaller and quieter and again free. If money is such a problem why dont the council knock down the pool and have what Cassiobury Park of Wallingford have. You dont really need a lot of staff as the pools are knee height and a small cafe. Even if you charged people a £1 to use it then why not. It's cost me 10 times more having to go over to wallingford and watford just so the kids can have a bit on fun in the water on a hot day!!!!!!!

Like many others I have happy memories of spending time there in the summer, whatever the weather. I wanted to take my children there this year and it was closed. Took them to Handy Cross instead, it was just not the same - hence we only went once. If Hollywell Mead had been open I am sure we would have been there two or three times a week whilst we were staying with relatives for a month.

We have just moved into the area and were dismayed to hear about the closure of the pool. It seems such a shame and at a time when we're all meant to be promoting healthy living and physical exercise - it seems a very short sighted decision.
I only just found out about this swimming pool closing, but wanted to use this pool as I went to an open air swimming pool as a kid, and found it, a completely different and enjoyable experience, and with the Olympic games coming it makes sense to help people like me who have been put off by sport in the past to take it up, and it is easier for me to get to then the sport center, it makes me very upset to see such a place closed, I just hope it can be reopened sometime in the future for the benefit of everyone. It is places like this that can stop young people turning to crime in these hard times and, give them, something to do, and have a purpose in life, and dream of being an Olympic swimmer.

In my school days I was taught to swim at this pool by my school,Hatters Lane, although it was quite a long walk. I also spent a lot of my childhood at this pool enjoying the chance to play outside of the pool but within a safe area I really cannot understand how WDC cannot find the £50 or so to maintain the running of the open air pool, they seem able to spend on lots of others pointless projects etc. and to raise thier pension provisions!
We've had many a great time at the pool... me and all my family.. i do feel that it give the children and families of high wycombe, especially those that aren't lucky enough to have holidays by the sea.. it give us a wonderful place to spend the day with family...in a safe and healty environment... i do hope it's life can be extended...
I note that the Council have rejected the sensible proposals of the group at present.
It seems likely that they will put the pool into the existing Leisure contract next year thanks to the efforts of the group.
I would be willing to serve on a Friends of Holywell Mead Pool group to continue and improve this vital facility.

I was so annoyed to see that the pool has not been opened this year. I have a 15 month old son who would have loved to swim in the open air instead of the stuffy baby pool at handy cross. Instead of wasting money on things like the silly fountain on frogmoor that is never used that money could have been used to fund the pool and keep it open.
It's a public facility we must save at all costs.

although we hear a lot about what it would cost for the council to keep the pool open, the pool must have had an income when it was open and I wonder how much that was?
