Outdoor pools are much healthier than the chlorine laden air of indoor pools. Keep it open and close other non essentil services.
I think people would be willing to book membership in advance. I would be happy to pay £500 per annum to have membership.
If there were 1000 people like me you would have enough for the new roof etc plus decent catering facilities.I would like an emphasis on childrens swimming. I remember my mother taking my brother and I to outdoor swimming in the 1960's. We used to go to Holywell Mead, Burnham Beeches or in the Hughenden Brook which was about 4' deep then. This was before the River Wye was covered in concrete - another mistake.
There used to be an open air pool at the Desborough Rec after the War my parents recollect it. I think that was fed by the Wye. Wycombe is certainly losing its watery heritage -the Pool must be saved.

Good luck with your campaign to save Holywell Mead swimming pool.

I think the pool shouldn't be closed!
To many families around Wycombe use it during the holidays as an activity.
People enjoy this pool... IT SHOULD NOT BE CLOSED!

I have swam at the pool early mornings more years than I care to remember. Have adopted the outdoor facility at Hampton but it is really too far even though the management and hours seem sensible. Want to go to Holywell Mead.....
As a child who lived locally I have many fond memories of summer days spent here with friends and family.
I find it quite unbelievable that the council can not find c£60,000 necessary to keep this facility open and absolutely disgusting that they have chosen this summer to close it. The year in which the country is plunged into the deepest recession many of us have seen in our life time, the year in which thousands of local families will be unable to afford to escape on holiday. They choose this moment to slam the door on the only outdoor pool in the area where local families unable to afford a break could have escaped the stresses of every day life and spent quality time together in the open air.
I believe it is simply a function of a lack of advertising that has resulted in the claimed under utilisation of this facility. I’m sure something as simple as an electronic sign at the top and bottom of Marlow Hill, so passed by tens of thousands of drivers a day as they crawl to and from work, informing people that the pool is open with a electronic thermometer highlighting the current water temperature (so reminding people its heated) would have the place packed to the rafters during the summer months.
Keep fighting! The council must come to their senses in the end!

Best of luck with keeping the pool - we have used it for a number of years. It could easily have a retractable roof (similar to the one at the RGS) and create a year round facility. It is a unique facility and must be kept open.

I have really enjoyed using the pool and hope to use it again in the future
When money is too tight for a holiday or even a day trip to the seaside, a visit to an outdoor pool is even more valuable.
I'd love to use the pool! I moved here recently with my two kids, and the local pool opposite was one of the reasons we bought our house. Gutted - does not describe how I feel adequately.
