We met there in 1962 and have been married since 1969. Have both enjoyed so many good times at the pool so please use your brains and leave it alone for other to enjoy. Good luck with this campaign

My children ask at the first ray of sunshine in March when can they go to the rye pool. Surely there are ways to make it more financially commercial - maybe slides or a bubble over the top so it will be used more. We don't need endless shops we need activities for our children!

I used to enjoy visiting the outdoor pool with my children on lovely hot summer days.
I`m sure it is in keeping with the Government`s plans for us all to be healthier to retain such a good resource!

Once again, ordinary health and family conscouse people are being ignored. I say family conscouse because in todays society where we are all being told the family unit is in decline, how mad is it to close a public service like Holywellmead pool where not only swimmers but non swimming members of a family can get together and enjoy a picnic altogether as a (family)! There are so many solitary acitvities in this day and age that islolate youngsters while up in there bedrooms playing on computer games because with the uncertanty of who is watching and the dangers of playing outside like I did as a child are gone which forces them into such play! Holymead pool allows children to let of steam in a safe and enclosed environment, it also allows teenagers and adult members to enjoy time together, while pursueing a healthy and much enjoyable activity! But Hey! Ho! I suppose when its gone, the powers that be will blame anyone else but themselves! Children, Yes! in my day and age could go out to play on their own and come back hours later for tea or dinner etc., and would have used their imagination while having the freedom to explore woods and other places with friends, their minds as well as their bodies would have been excercised, and they would come home exhausted from a good days freedom of play! We have a ticking time bomb in our children and teenagers, and unless someone sees sence sooner than later and looks again at pools such as Holymead and that it is making a HUGE profit from the health and happiness of our Children/Teenagers and adults, it will have a disastrous affect long term.

It would be a huge loss to the community to lose the pool. With the summer months nearly upon us, it would deprive the children of a much needed leisure/health activity. It would be a travesty to have this taken away from us.

We only discovered the pool last Summer - what a fantastic (and different) experience for our two boys who are at different levels of swimming ability. We believe that swimming in different contexts adds interest and variety and encourages continuing interest in swimming generally. Good luck with the campaign - we would certaily use the facility!

As a child I was one of the fist people to use the Holywell Mead Pool its a great feature and no better place in the summer to relax. My daughters used the pool extensivly and now my Grandchildren have enjoyed summer days It must be kept open for future families to enjoy.

How can they close this fantastic place? It's so well used in the summer and enables so many people to stay fit and healthy in the fresh air. I wait all winter for it to reopen and am devestated it's closed. So short sighted. I heard on the news that most swimming pools are actually revenue generators for the local councils which I think is appauling in the first place but to close one that's not when it benefits the local community so much is crazy. I pay my rates and taxes and don't use any of the free National Health service because I keep fit and so never get ill. This was one way I get some of it back and I'm sure I'm not alone. Studies show that moderate exercise for 30 minutes a day can increase your changes of avoiding serious illness by 50%. The council should put those figures in their calculators and see how they add up.
