I lived in London before moving to High Wycombe and lidos there are extremely popular places. They are well advertised and marketed. Going to the lido is seen as quite a cool way to spend a sunny day. Given that this summer is forecast to be hot, it is mad to close this unique resource! Also, as child obesity is on the increase, why are sports facilities being closed? I do hope that the decision is overturned and soon.
I moved to High Wycombe in nov 2007 and intedned to take my young son the the open air pool to teach him to swim. We have been a few times and he loved it. So I was really disappointed to see it closed down, especially for such a small saving. I work for a London Council and know that this amount of money could be saved my looking closely at spending on'consultants' and excess hours on agency staff, golden handshakes, garden leave, additional 'bonuses' and payrises that are above the National agreed limit! I hope the pool is saved and would gladly help - so would my 4 year old son.

I wish you the best of luck in your plight.
Whilst the current economic climate undoubtedly means discretionary services and facilities are reviewed, activities and facilities such as swimming and Holywell Pool should be saved and enhanced.
Government has set its stall out to improve participation in sport and in particular Swimming through the 'free swimming' initiative. Why in a sport where facility stock is dwindling should pools be getting closed.

Why, when the government is encouraging everyone to exercise more, is hte Council mothballing a sports facility?
There are only a handful of open air pools left.
Those remaining may capture the enthusiasm of current non-regular swimmers on a beautiful sunny day.
We all know the fantastic health benefits of swimming. As they say 'make swimming your friend for life'

Holywell Mead pool is the swimming pool of our youth - an area for friends to meet - with a focus on a positive activity. Accessible by foot from the town and for many schoolchildren. It would be a very sad loss not to have the pool reopened. The council must see that a scheme which has local poeple driving it, can only be successful.
We are loosing too many sport areas.
The children need it so much to keep fit and well.

it was a safe and friendly place to meet school friends and have fun it seems such a shame that our younger generation will lose out on local ameneties

As a new resident to High Wycombe I was excited to learn about the open air pool - and then very disappointed to hear it was closed. I am very much looking forward to my first swim there once your campaign succeeds in getting it back open, which I'm sure it will! Keep up the hard work.
