About Us

The Holywell Mead Pool Trust Steering Group has been established with the aim of preventing the closure of the Holywell Mead Swimming Pool in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

In March 2009, Wycombe District Council, the pool’s owners, announced that it could no longer afford to fund the operation of the outdoor pool due to the current economic pressures.

Holywell Mead Swimming Pool is an open air pool situated on The Rye in High Wycombe, a short walk from the heart of the town centre. It was built to a 1930s design and opened on June 1 1957.

There has been a public pool on the Holywell Mead Swimming Pool site since about 150AD when the Romans were in Britain and built a villa with a huge bath house with pools and sauna.

The Holywell Mead Pool Trust Steering Group, which is made up of local professionals from the High Wycombe and district area, has created a business plan which we believe will safeguard the future operation of the pool.

We now want the council to give us an opportunity to keep this vital health facility open and we need you to support our campaign to save the Holywell Mead Pool.
